Do job seekers have to pay to use Jobhawk.com services?
No. The job search features on Jobhawk are FREE! Job seekers can register, post résumés & cover letters, take advantage of career resources, search our database of job opportunities and receive job alerts without obligation.

Browser Questions:

What browser should I use?
Windows users should use Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 and above or Netscape Navigator version 6 and above. Mac users should use Internet Explorer version 5 and above or Safari version 1.0 and above.

Why do I sometimes get an error message when I click on my browser's "Back" button?
Because of the way Jobhawk and many other advanced websites operate, the best means to navigate the site is by using the navigation bar and links within the site. Alternatively, you can access all public pages of Jobhawk.com by using our Site Map. You should not use your browser's "Back" button for site navigation.

Why was I asked to re-enter my login information after leaving my computer over a period of time?
If you leave your computer for 20 minutes with no activity your session will automatically end. This helps prevent others from using your account.

Username and Password Questions:

I selected a Username but I received an error indicating this name already exists. What should I do?
Please try another Username that will be easy to remember.

I forgot my password. Can I retrieve it or get a new one?
Yes. Just click on "Forgot Password" on the Jobhawk.com homepage and enter your Username when prompted. For security purposes you will be asked for the answer to the secret question you entered when registering and for your postal/zip code. A temporary password will be created for you.

You should login using this temporary password and go to "My Personal Information" where you can change the temporary password to one of your choice.

Registration Questions:

How do I change my personal information?
You can change your personal information by logging in to your account and selecting the "My Personal Information" tab. Click on "Edit Information" at the bottom of the screen to change your personal information. Be sure to click on "Update" at the bottom of the "Edit Information" screen to save your information.

Do you share my personal information with other companies?
No. Never. Your personal information is stored only so that employers or recruiters may contact you or so that we may contact you if necessary. Please see our privacy policy for more details.

Résumé and Cover Letter Questions:

I submitted my résumé. Can I see how it looks online?
Yes. Although job seekers cannot search our database of résumés you can still see how your résumé will look to employers and recruiters: just click on the "Preview" button after you have uploaded your résumé. You will be able to see your keywords, searchable criteria, cover letter and résumé.

How can I make my résumé and cover letter look better?
For best formatting you can attach your résumé in MS Word's .doc format. However, because these résumés are attached files they cannot be searched. You may want to also save a text only version of your résumé which can be searched online. The easiest way to do this is to highlight all the text in your MS Word résumé, copy the contents and paste it into the appropriate box on the "Create Résumé" screen. For more information see our section on "Electronic Résumés".

Can Jobhawk help me write my résumé or cover letter?
Yes. If you want to write your résumé yourself we have some great tips. Just click on "Résumé Writing Tips" for more information.

When an employer or recruiter searches for résumés can I get mine to the top of the list?
Yes. Employers and recruiters searching our database receive search results in chronological order according to the latest date résumés were entered or updated. To keep your name at the top of the list, we recommend you update your résumé frequently. To do so, login to your account and click on the "Manage Résumés" tab. You will see a list of your saved résumés. Click on the button in the "Edit" column and then on "Go" to open the "Edit Résumé" screen. You can make changes or simply scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on "Update". This will update the date and time of your résumé.

How do I send a formatted version of my résumé to employers or recruiters?
When you create your résumé you may submit both a text only version and a MS Word version. Send employers and recruiters the MS Word version which retains all of your formatting. The text only version is useful for employers since the entire contents of your résumé can be searched.

My Activity page shows my résumé has not been viewed. Why is this?
The viewed column will display when an employer or recruiter reads your résumé.

Search Questions:

What is the best way to search for a job?
Use our "Search for Jobs" feature which will provide a listing of jobs matching your search criteria.

Can I save my search queries?
Yes, once you have registered with Jobhawk, you may setup as many saved searches as you wish. Just click on the "Saved Searches" tab.

Career Alert Questions:

How can I receive Career Alerts?
Career alerts are sent by e-mail when a job has been posted that matches your Career Alert keywords. To schedule a Career Alert, login and select the Career Alert tab. Enter the e-mail address where you would like to have the alerts sent. Next, enter keywords that correspond with the Career that suits you. Click the "GO" button and away you go!

How do I turn Career Alerts off?
Simply click on the "GO" button in the active Career Alert area.

How frequently can I receive Career Alerts?
You will receive a Career Alert whenever a job is posted that matches your Career Alert keywords.

After Finding a Job:

I found a job. Do I still need Jobhawk?
It's a good idea to keep your résumés up to date and Jobhawk is the perfect place to maintain your résumé. If you are not actively searching for a job you should disable your résumés to keep them private.
