Job Description

Process Team Supervisors are responsible for getting the store “Grand Opening Day Ready” each day. With their Freight Team, they meet this goal by stocking shelves, organizing aisles and overheads, and building end caps and promotions. With direction from the Process Assistant Store Manager (ASM) and the category pack-down list, the Process Team Supervisor executes primarily pack-out and as directed or needed pack-down with his/her team. Every day, Process Team Supervisors, along with their team, make sure that the sales floor is clear, organized and properly signed, and that the receiving floor is clear of pallets and trash. Process Team Supervisors must have excellent communication skills and must keep their team motivated through leading by example.

MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must fulfill minimum time-in-position and performance management code requirements of V2
• Safety expectations for this role are outlined under The Home Depot Canada Environmental Health & Safety Management system element under "Supervisor"
SUPERVISING ASSOCIATES
• Scheduling Freight Process Team Associates’ work time and training (to be approved by Store Manager)
• Training and certifying Freight Process Team Associates to use equipment necessary to do their jobs successfully (e.g., reach truck, electric pallet jack, fork lift)
• Training Freight Process Team Associates in pack-out and power pack-down procedures and standards
• Motivating Freight Process Team Associates and assisting in their development
• Assigning Freight Process Team Associates to operate equipment
• Training, coaching and developing Associates’ customer service skills
• Counseling and maintaining positive interpersonal interactions with Associates on Freight Team to proactively address any concerns
• Developing a game plan with the Process ASM to prioritize duties of Freight Team Associates
• Monitoring progress of Freight Team Associates to ensure duties will be completed
• Utilize the company's Performance Management program to provide ongoing feed back and develop associates
ENSURING MERCHANDISE IS STOCKED
• Using the category pack-down list as needed to ensure that correct merchandise is brought down from overhead bays before the store opens
• Using appropriate equipment to bring down merchandise from overhead bays based on the category pack-down list as required
• Ensuring that all necessary end caps and promotions are built correctly, aisles are clean and shoppable and signage is correct each day
• Ensuring overheads are neatly and safely maintained
• Ensuring receiving floor is clear and that all pallets brought out to the sales floor are packed-out
• Stocking shelves to achieve 100% in-stock, maintaining aisle cleanliness and shoppability and signing in coordination with the Fulfillment Team leaders & Inventory Associates (IAs)

DETERMINING AND MEETING CUSTOMERS’ NEEDS
• Approaching and greeting Customers
• Asking open-ended questions and expressing interest in projects in order to put the Customer at ease, determine Customers’ level of expertise and determine Customers’ needs
• Answering questions about merchandise
• Providing outstanding service to external and internal Customers (e.g., assisting Customers in store or on phone, loading merchandise into customer cars, handling complaints)



DELIVERING PRODUCT KNOWLEDGE
• Communicating the appropriate level of product knowledge for each Customer’s level of expertise
• Diagnosing problems for Customers and recommending solutions
• Describing features and benefits of merchandise
• Explaining steps needed to complete projects and the products needed
• Suggesting related items/services outside of department that Customers may need
• Learning product knowledge by attending classes and listening to knowledgeable Associates
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY STORE MANAGER AND ASSISTANT STORE MANAGER
• May be assigned key carrying and manager-on-duty responsibilities (e.g., opening and closing store, signing for deliveries and markdowns, handling store level complaints in person or over phone)
